40 YEARS AGO: A TREATMENT FOR THE "CYTOKINE STORM"?

The sometimes fatal pneumonia, and organ damage caused by COVID-19 is due to the "cytokine storm"—an immune response. Other infections also cause this identical illness. 20 years ago, this was reversed in lab animals by both CBD, and THC, and these cytokines were also reduced in a clinical trial of MS patients in 2017.

The same immunomodulation observed in rats was also observed in humans in this clinical trial, when CBD was combined with a lipid supplement, to aid CBD absorption.

COVID-19 causes pneumonia that could be fatal. An over active immune response to lung inflammation causes fluid build up. This is called a "cytokine storm." Over 20 years ago, it was discovered that substances in Cannabis could calm this "storm" in lab animals. No clinical trials have been performed, due to government prohibition, which has obstructed scientific discovery. It was also discovered that CBD is a powerful antiviral, that can treat lung inflammation.
